Harper's Snub to First Woman Elected as a Head of State in Africa

There is some concern over the way in which Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was treated by Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

On a visit this week to Ottawa, Ms. Johnson-Sirleaf, who is a political superstar as the first woman elected as a head of state in Africa (and who Time magazine named as one of the top 100 people shaping the world today), met with Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay, but was somehow overlooked by Mr. Harper.

"I was not aware until yesterday [Tuesday] that the President of Liberia was here," Mr. Harper said in the House of Commons on Wednesday.

Mr. Harper met that day with Vladislav Tretiak, the famous Russian goalie who was in town trying to win support for another Canada-Russia hockey summit.

Need I say more?

Wow.
The depths of Harper's incompetence, arrogance, and immaturity (both politically and otherwise) never cease to amaze me.

How is it possible for President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf's visit to Canada (not to mention her meeting with the Conservative foreign affairs minister) to escape the Prime Minister's attention?

So, can we fire him now?
