Tighten rules on MD suspensions: women's group
Medical regulators in two provinces fumbled the ball while dealing with a psychiatrist who was suspended after he acknowledged having sex with one of his patients, a women's group says.
Leslie MacLeod (pictured), president of Newfoundland and Labrador's Advisory Council on the Status of Women, said "We need to have protocols between the different jurisdictions to ensure that — as in the old days, with the priests moving from one diocese to another — we don't witness physicians simply packing up and moving to another jurisdiction and practising with impunity."
