'A CENTURY OF WOMEN AND WORK' EXHIBITION & BOOK LAUNCH
Mayor David Miller and Toronto City Council in cooperation with the Ontario Federation of Labour and the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre will launch a ten-piece exhibition and book titled: A Century of Women and Work on Monday, March 5, 2007 in recognition of International Women's Day.
In attendance at the launch will be: Irene Harris, OFL Secretary-Treasurer; Terry Downey, OFL Executive Vice-President; Wayne Samuelson, OFL President; Renée Wetselaar, Workers Arts and Heritage Centre Executive Director, Lynn Simmons writer/researcher and arts curator Carole Condé; as well as four of the contributing artists: Shelly Bahl, Marlene Creates; Tania Willard; and Natalie Wood.
A Century of Women and Work is comprised of 10 pieces of art, each created by a Canadian woman artist who has uniquely interpreted a decade from the 20th Century. The artists are from different provinces and reflect a variety of cultural backgrounds, including First Nations' women and newcomers.
